The International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS) and International Association of Democratic Lawyers (IADL) announced on September 28 the holding of the International People’s Tribunal (IPT) for Palestine, formally titled Right to Resist: The Palestinian People vs. The Zionist Occupation and the US Government. The tribunal will be held on November 22-23. Its goal is to document and indict the war crimes, genocide, ecocide, and mass starvation Israel and the US is committing against the Palestinians.

The IPT will represent the peoples’ response to the intensifying genocide and ecocide in Gaza and in the occupied territories of Palestine, where the Zionist state have killed 74,000 people, including 21,000 children.

“The genocidal assault on the Palestinian people demands universal outrage and unconditional solidarity from all the people and countries of the world,” the tribunal organizers said.

“What we are witnessing in Gaza is “Israel’s” commission of full-scale ecocide, defined as: ‘unlawful or wanton acts committed with knowledge that there is a substantial likelihood of severe and either widespread or long-term damage to the environment’,”

The tribunal aims to hold the Zionist and US governments accountable for their unrestrained destruction of the Palestinian land, environment, and lives, and for their crimes against humanity, in accordance with the Algiers Declaration of the Rights of Peoples and other international standards.

This will support cases and causes in major agencies such as the United Nations General Assembly, Human Rights Council, International Court of Justice, International Criminal Court, and in countries seeking accountability and action for war crimes of genocide and the laws governing armed conflicts.

“The Tribunal will serve as a moral, political and diplomatic platform for victims, survivors, advocates, social and national liberation movements to exact accountability against the Zionist war criminals and their imperialist sponsors,” the organizers said.

The groups called to “assert the rights of people subject to extreme immiseration and extermination, the people of Gaza and the rest of occupied Palestinian territory, the rights of a people to fight for their national and social liberation against Zionist settler-colonialism and US imperialism.”
