The United States empire is falling apart at the seams. The deeply unpopular and illegal US-“Israeli” war on Iran shortly after the similarly unpopular and illegal attacks on Venezuela show the Trump regime is violently and recklessly floundering on the global stage.
From deadly strikes on Venezuelan fishing boats and a bombing campaign of the capital city to an escalating war on Iran that began with a US-“Israeli” bombing of a girl’s school, Trump is lashing out at any government that dares to stand up against US-proclaimed hegemony.
The same president who claimed to run on an agenda of peace has shown his shallow lies for what they are as he barrels into another “forever war” against Iran alongside the genocidal “Israeli” regime. But as the US and “Israel” continue to expand war as fast as possible, the anti-war movement in the United States is rising up and demanding an end to US warmongering and imperialist aggression.
In response to an Anti War Action Network call to action, over 25 cities around the country held protests calling for an end to the US-“Israeli” war on Iran. The position of the American people is clear from even mainstream media polling: No War On Iran. Grassroots organizations around the country are seeing growth and victory in their campaigns against the weapons of US imperialism.
Denver Anti-War Action recently secured a victory against the bloodthirsty AI corporation Palantir by mobilizing massive public pressure to force them out of the city. This campaign highlights that power lies in the hands of those who are organized enough to seize it.
The Dallas-Fort Worth Anti-War Committee is ramping up their Stop the Bombs Garland campaign against REPKON USA, the key supplier of the US and “Israeli” bomb arsenals. They are fighting to get REPKON kicked out of the FAME program where they bring students from Garland Independent School District into a bomb factory for ‘on the job training’.
Cleveland United Against War is standing up against Howmet Aerospace in a campaign to stop the flow of F-35 fighter jet parts. These jets have been used in countless war crimes by the United States and “Israel” against Palestine, Venezuela, Iran, and more. Everyday people are learning more about companies in their communities complicit in genocide and are fighting to stop them.
The Anti-War Committee (AWC) Chicago, together with the US Palestinian Community Network and BDS Chicago have brought together over 50 organizations across the state in a fight to compel the State Treasurer, Michael Frerichs, to divest Illinois from “Israel” Bonds. This alliance of the anti-war movement with the Palestinian movement has been a key feature of the peace movement in Chicago for decades. AWC Chicago and USPCN have also been at the core of the emergency response protests against Trump’s attacks on Venezuela and Iran.
In the Twin Cities, Women Against Military Madness is leading the fight to cut the regional public water utility’s contract with an “Israeli” cybersecurity company, successfully pushing the St. Paul City Council to look for a different vendor. At the same time, the Minnesota Anti-War Committee has held a series of civil disobedience sit-ins and mass protests against the State Board of Investment’s ties to apartheid “Israel,” culminating in divestment of nearly all of Minnesota’s “Israel” Bonds.
The Anti War Action Network has been on the ground in New York City to protest and organize against the illegal and inhumane imprisonment of President Nicolas Maduro and First Lady Celia Flores. AWAN members went to Caracas, Venezuela for the People’s Assembly for Sovereignty and Peace in Our America, and recently joined the Nuestra América Convoy to Cuba. AWAN has been able to respond to growing threats from the Trump regime wherever they may be.
The anti-war movement is growing every day and building the people power needed to fight back against US warmongering and imperialist ambitions. The Anti War Action Network continues to work with an increasing number of grassroots organizations around the country whose local campaigns are fighting for concrete, achievable demands and growing in strength.
Join an AWAN-affiliated organization near you to get involved in the fight against Trump’s bloodthirsty agenda. If there isn’t an organization in your area working against US wars of aggression, start one and reach out to the Anti-War Action Network. Join us on July 11-12 in Chicago for the AWAN Conference as we learn from one another’s organizing and build a movement that will win. The people united can never be defeated! No to Trump’s War on Iran!
